{"id":21125,"date":"2022-08-24T11:24:24","date_gmt":"2022-08-24T11:24:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shipip.com\/?p=21125"},"modified":"2022-08-24T11:24:24","modified_gmt":"2022-08-24T11:24:24","slug":"mercuria-makes-1-5m-investment-in-rise-x","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developmenttask.com\/ShipIpLtd\/mercuria-makes-1-5m-investment-in-rise-x\/","title":{"rendered":"Mercuria makes $1.5m investment in rise-x"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Switzerland-based commodity and energy trader Mercuria has invested US$1.5 million into Australian start-up rise-x, a provider of blockchain-based marine fuel management systems.<\/p>\n<p>Mercuria subsidiary Minerva Bunkering has previously used rise-x\u2019s DIANA platform to digitally track refuelling of ships at global ports, with the two firms\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/smartmaritimenetwork.com\/2021\/08\/04\/minerva-and-rise-x-io-partner-to-create-bunker-management-spin-off\/\">announcing a partnership last summer<\/a>\u00a0to establish a spin off business that combines Minerva\u2019s Advanced Delivery Platform (ADP) with DIANA to create an end-to-end bunker management service.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have been working with rise-x for some time now and have been impressed with the team and the technology,\u201d said Mercuria\u2019s Chief Operations Officer Alistair Cross.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe software system has proven its potential to improve productivity and to increase transparency and traceability across the global commodities ecosystem.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>rise-x recently exceeded its initial US$2.5 million funding target by securing US$2.77 million in total private investment, including Mercuria\u2019s support. The company was also named as a recipient of AU$895,000 under the Australian government\u2019s Accelerating Commercialization Grant Programme.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can use blockchain and the interconnectivity of the world to bring customers, suppliers, financers, accountants and others onto a common platform that can be accessed from anywhere,\u201d said Rise-x co-founder and Chief Executive Officer Rowan Fenn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAll parties can access a common truth to observe and manage transactions such as commodity exchanges, goods movements and service deliveries with immutable records created in real time. Every step along the way has been recorded securely in a common, transparent place.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can create smart contracts that will record carbon emissions from everyday activities so companies can offset those emissions in an open and transparent way.
