{"id":20760,"date":"2022-08-11T05:17:18","date_gmt":"2022-08-11T05:17:18","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shipip.com\/?p=20760"},"modified":"2022-08-11T05:17:18","modified_gmt":"2022-08-11T05:17:18","slug":"spat-between-canadian-maritime-unions-goes-public","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developmenttask.com\/ShipIpLtd\/spat-between-canadian-maritime-unions-goes-public\/","title":{"rendered":"Spat between Canadian maritime unions goes public"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>An ugly spat between two maritime trade unions in Canada has gone public.<\/p>\n<p>The president of the International Longshore Workers\u2019 Union (ILWU) Canada, Robert Ashton, recently came out with online comments in which he stated the ILWU would either push Ocean BC, which is affiliated to the Seafarers\u2019 International Union of Canada from their waters or \u201ckill\u201d it. Ashton described Ocean BC as a \u201cpredator in our waters\u201d, saying it wanted to muscle out one of the ILWU\u2019s chapters in British Columbia.<\/p>\n<p>Responding, Jim Given, the president of the SIU, said: \u201cFabricating information and threatening another union\u2019s membership is something no good labour union should do, and we view it as a sign of weak leadership.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Given said that throughout the SIU\u2019s history, the ILWU Canada has \u201craided, defamed and slandered\u201d his union.<\/p>\n<div class=\"stream-item stream-item-below-post-content\">\n<div id=\"div-gpt-ad-1_95_0_1_2\" data-google-query-id=\"CMGcxajtu_kCFQwrlgodqFkLjg\">Source: https:\/\/splash247.com\/spat-between-canadian-maritime-unions-goes-public\/<\/div>\n<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An ugly spat between two maritime trade unions in Canada has gone public.
