{"id":18498,"date":"2022-06-27T06:20:49","date_gmt":"2022-06-27T06:20:49","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/shipip.com\/?p=18498"},"modified":"2022-06-27T06:20:49","modified_gmt":"2022-06-27T06:20:49","slug":"uk-operator-sees-last-rig-in-its-fleet-off-to-scrap-yard","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developmenttask.com\/ShipIpLtd\/uk-operator-sees-last-rig-in-its-fleet-off-to-scrap-yard\/","title":{"rendered":"UK operator sees last rig in its fleet off to scrap yard"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>After completing the sale of a rig, which has been stacked for years, Awilco Drilling, a UK-based offshore drilling contractor, is left with no other drilling assets in its fleet.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Back in November 2021, Awilco Drilling revealed its\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/awilco-pursuing-recycling-options-for-stacked-rig\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">decision to recycle<\/a>\u00a0the\u00a0<strong>WilHunter<\/strong>\u00a0rig, which was built by South Korean Daewoo Shipbuilding &amp; Heavy Machinery in 1983 and upgraded in Remontowa Shipyard in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>Equipped for drilling in water depths up to 1,500 ft, the WilHunter rig is an enhanced pacesetter semi-submersible unit, which was cold stacked in Invergordon since\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/awilco-drilling-wilphoenix-rig-brings-profit-wilhunter-cold-stacked\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">late 2016<\/a> due to a lack of employment opportunities.<\/p>\n<p>In an update on Wednesday, Awilco Drilling informed that its fully owned subsidiary, Awilco Drilling Offshore (UK) Limited, has now concluded the sale of this drilling rig.<\/p>\n<p>Since Awilco recently\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.offshore-energy.biz\/well-safe-solutions-welcomes-latest-fleet-addition-as-it-closes-purchase-of-awilco-rig\/\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">wrapped up its sale of another semi-submersible drilling rig<\/a>\u00a0to its compatriot decommissioning services provider, Well-Safe Solutions, the offshore drilling contractor has no other rigs in its fleet.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After completing the sale of a rig, which has been stacked for years, Awilco Drilling, a UK-based offshore drilling contractor, is left with no other drilling assets in its fleet.
