Stricter rules and higher fines increase the risks of non-compliance. Violations of the GDPR can have a severe impact on companies that handle personal information \u2013 both financially, as well as for their reputation.<br \/>\nMeeting GDPR is not just a compliance requirement, but can also lead to a competitive advantage by proving to be a trustworthy employer and business partner for customers.<br \/>\nWhat is personal data?<\/p>\n<p>Personal data is defined as any information concerning the personal or material circumstances of a person and is associated with the data on employees, contractors and customers. This includes name, address, material conditions, such as health, or IP address.<\/p>\n<p>Certain kinds of data are classified as \u201csensitive\u201d.
